If you are price shopping, MB Trading may be a good fit for you. They offer $4.95 market and limit trades and 95 cent per contract for Futures and Options. This is an outstanding online trading service for frequent and experienced traders; they are fast and offer a variety of commission options.
They do not offer extensive education, they have a “university,” which offers a wiki, a forum and webinars, but so far these features are relatively barren. They offer quite a few webinars, but when we tested the wiki, it came up as “the page cannot be found.”
We really liked their MBT Navigator which works with the Blackberry Bold, if you are an AT&T customer you may want to check this out. This cell phone app can help you place trades, check account balances and watch stock prices from anywhere you have cell coverage, which is beyond cool.
MB Trading Standout Features:
We think MB Trading offers excellent pricing for volume or frequent traders. As mentioned above, MB Trading offers low prices, at only $4.95 for market and limit trades. Basically they have two commission plans, the Direct Plan starts out at $.01 per share for the first 500 shares or the Smart Plan has a flat rate of $4.95 per trade for the first 10,000 shares.
Futures trading is offered at 95 cents per trade plus exchange fees and options at 95 cents per contract with no minimum. However, they are primarily hands-off, meaning they do not offer broker assisted trades, you are on your own using this service. You can place orders online, through your Blackberry Bold or through the web-based software or through their downloadable software interface.
MB Trading offers stock, options, futures and FOREX trading. In terms of futures, they have direct order routing to CME, NYMEX, CBOT and COMEX. They offer twelve complex options strategies and with one click choices, so you are not required to enter multiple legs manually.
MB Trading offers a few different platforms, the MBT Navigator and MetaTrader 4, and for cell phone MBT Navigator Wireless. MBT Navigator and MetaTrader 4 are fairly easy to use, especially if you are already familiar with trading software. They offer free demo downloads online if you would like to check them out.
As mentioned, they offer two trading software programs and a cell phone version. MBT Navigator provides access to quite a few third-party programs for research, education, reference and time saving tools. For charting and analytics it provides access to eSignal, IntelliCharts, Ninja Trader, QCharts, OmniTrader Professional, TickQuest, TradeBullet, TopGun Software and ChartroomNavigator. Plus they provide trading education through 4x Connection, Cyber Trading University and Swing-Trading.
Trade resources include Forex Factory and Jitney Group. Trade tools include software or services provided through AbleSys, Concord Exchange, Cool-Trade and more. Keep in mind that these are all third-party sources and not created by MB Trading.
We were really happy to see that they have developed a cell phone app for the Blackberry Bold. This is a really handy trading tool, it can be used to monitor and trade stocks and check balances. It can also be used to create watch lists and open/close positions. MB Trading is also working on a general cell phone app for other popular cell phone and one for the iPhone. We think for day traders a cell phone app or trading available by cell phone is an absolute must.
The also have a “university” but at the time we reviewed this service the Wiki section was not working and the forum was rather quite. However, they do offer quite a few helpful webinars.
MB Trading is designed for web-based or cell phone trading, so they do not have a brick and mortar location that you can visit, like Fidelity or Charles Schwab do. But you can contract them by phone, email or chat. The FOREX, trading and customer care help desks are available standard EST business hours, but the University/Technology and software support desk is available 24 hours a day. They also offer Skype support if you are a VoIP user.
We think MB Trading is a great online trading service for frequent and experienced traders, especially those on the go. We like that they have stepped into the modern wireless world by adding an extremely functional cell phone app for the Blackberry Bold, which is an amazing and popular phone for AT&T customers.
